Lubavitch Junior Boys School

Attendance

THIS TERM ( AUTUMN) WE ARE AT 97.3%

At Lubavitch Primary Boys School, attendance is one of our main priorities. We all want children to attend school, wherever possible, in order for them to thrive in their learning. We appreciate that building good relationships with parents/carers is imperative to children attending school so that we can support families in our local area.  We know that children at our school have a passion for learning and we understand that they need to attend school to achieve this.

It is important that children have regular attendance at school. It is essential that students do not take days off where this can be avoided. Even having 95% attendance means having up to 9 days off from school (18 sessions), where children could miss up to 54 hours of learning.

Children are required by law to attend school from the start of the term following their fifth birthday. Some children may be admitted earlier, as part of the policy of the Local Education Authority. Children are admitted to school in September after they reach their fourth birthday.

This chart shows the number of hours that your child would be missing in school in relation to their attendance data.

Percentage Attendance Days missed per term Number of sessions missed Number of hours of missed learning
100% 0 days 0 0
95% 2 days 4 24 hours
90% 4 days 8 48 hours
85% 6 days 12 sessions 72 hours

If we identify children who are showing as persistently absent, our attendance lead will contact these parents and offer support wherever possible.

If you have any concerns or questions regarding Attendance. Please speak to the School Office and ask to speak to our Attendance Lead, who will be able to support and answer any questions you may have.

Pupil Absence Requests

You have to get permission from the head teacher if you want to take your child out of school during term time.

You can only do this if:

  • you make an application to the head teacher in advance (as a parent the child normally lives with)
  • there are exceptional circumstances

It’s up to the head teacher how many days your child can be away from school if leave is granted.

Please complete the Pupil Absence Request Form and return it to the school office in advance of the desired dates.
